mencoder ignore bitrate (1000 fps file)

Today I found my mencoder ignore bitrate option when I try to recode some file. After research I want to save here two links - http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mencoder-users/2006-April/003102.html and http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML-single/en/MPlayer.html#id2910636 which show me to obligatory using "-ofps" option in case we have variable framerate in source file and fixed one in destination.

Well after very serious criticism about variable approach we have to look at second way. It is very simple - two arrays - keys and values.

There are a lot of programming languages where you can use associative arrays. Some times it has different name - map or hash for example, but the fact is bash had nothing like this before version 4.0 And if you use bash with version lesser then 4.0 you probably try to find some kind of solution.

mplayer32 on debian amd64

Well actually mplayer on 64bit debian is good enough. But today evening I could not play old movie from old CD. After investigating it was clear mplayer cannot find an audio codec:

Requested audio codec family [voxware] (afm=dshow) not available.
Enable it at compilation.
Cannot find codec for audio format 0x75.
Read DOCS/HTML/en/codecs.html!
Audio: no sound
...

But I was absolutely sure everything was nice in the past. The investigation of the issue showed the codec was accessible only for 32-bit version. Therefore I've found fast way to install mplayer32.

Cygwin terminals

A standard Cygwin terminal is not the only one possible. Like most of programs, it has deficiencies - there is no usual operations of copy/paste, in which the text is put directly into the clipboard as soon as it was selected, a fairly limited set of fonts etc. - but in general it will meet most of your queries. From other hand, this is world of open source, so no need to limit yourself by one program.

Highlighting thoughts

The idea to share some examples appears soon or later in any technical blog like this one. The internet has a lot articles, thoughts, tool and ways how it can be done. I just want to summarize it and describe my way so you can choose any of them.

I've this error when try to reformat one of my wav files. The answer was found in one forum:

"Doesn't that mean an MP3 file with a .WAV header? You could try adding the option "--mp3input" and check if it works."

and it works!
